Zoo Hosts Cocktails For Conservation: Howl At The Moon Aug. 16

The Chattanooga Zoo will host Howl at the Moon on Aug. 16 from 6-8 p.m. The event raises funds for the Snow Leopard Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the highly endangered snow leopard.

The event will feature casual fare, cocktails and tours of the facility after the sun sets, which provides visitors with a different experience at the Zoo. Tickets are available for $20 by calling the Zoo at 697-1339.

Representatives from the Snow Leopard Trust will be available from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. to discuss conservation efforts and how Chattanoogans can help. In addition, the Zoo will have family friendly activities and visitors can observe the Zoo’s snow leopards, Cheney and Kasimir, as they enjoy enrichment activities as well.

Zoo Executive Director Darde Long said, “Howl at the Moon is held on the last full moon of the summer. And with all of the changes at the Zoo, we all have something to howl about.”

The Chattanooga Zoo is accredited through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and has recently undergone renovations making access to the facility easier and safer for all visitors. The Zoo’s new entrance is at 1254 East Third St.
