Zoo will celebrate acquisition of alpacas and marmosets at ball

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Island Zoological Society will hold its Annual Ball on Thursday, Feb.12, with cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., in the Excelsior Grand, New Dorp, to celebrate its past and future accomplishments. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased by calling the Zoo at 718-442-6868.

Honorees are Frank and Fran Reali, Borough President James Molinaro, Gina Gutman, and Time Warner Cable.

Fran and Frank Reali, residents of Sunnyside, are brokers and co-owners of Safari Realty (formerly known as Century 21 Fran Reali Realty) founded in 1988.

Community activists individually, the couple also supports a variety of causes through their company with activities such as Thanksgiving basket, coat and toy drives for Island charities, including AIDS Task Force and Project Hospitality.

In office since January 2002, Borough President James Molinaro works closely with city and state officials to continue to make improvements on Staten Island and enhance the quality of life for its residents.

Gina Gutman is director of marketing and public affairs for Time Warner Cable on Staten Island. She coordinates government and community relations as well as public affairs initiatives on Staten Island, including management of local grant making and serving as company spokesperson.

Time Warner Cable is the second largest cable operator in the United States, serving approximately 14.7 million customers, including communities in New York and New Jersey, with a “commitment to expanding choice and value for its customers.”

Former Borough President Ralph Lamberti and Dr. Gracelyn F. Santos, president and co-owner of Santos and Mroezek, DDS, are co-chairs of the Society Ball.

“Things are always changing and improving at New York’s Biggest Littlest Zoo. From regularly welcoming new animals such as this year’s alpacas and marmosets to redesigning animal exhibit spaces such as the new bobcat exhibit, the Zoo continues to bring smiles to the many families who enjoy it on a daily basis,” said John Caltabiano, executive director of the Staten Island Zoo.
