White tiger cub in Germany’s Aschersleben Zoo
June 6th, 2009 • Related • Filed Under
Germany’s Aschersleben Zoo is home to more than 100 animal species, but arguably the most exotic of its residents is this 2-month-old white tiger cub.
White tigers have a genetic condition that affects the pigment in their fur — well, most of their fur. They do have stripes, although some “pure white” tigers’ stripes are so light-colored as to virtually disappear. Contrary to common belief, however, they’re not albinos (an albino tiger wouldn’t have stripes at all).
