BHUBANESWAR: Thirty visitors to the Lion’s Safari of Nandankanan Zoological Park here had a scary time when their vehicle got stuck in the mud on Sunday afternoon. It took more than an hour before another vehicle came to their rescue but they will remember what happened during that time when the lions surrounded their bus and roared merrily giving the visitors a terrible time.
Sources said, the group of 30 took a bus and entered the Lion’s Safari at about 3 pm and soon after the vehicle was stuck in the muddy road, thanks to the torrential rains. Seeing the stationary vehicle, the curious lions then surrounded and made rounds of the bus. They roared leaving the visitors in a tizzy.
The panicked tourists turned to the guide but he could not be of any immediate help. It was only after about an hour and a half that the safari contractor reached the place in another vehicle and took them out that the 30 heaved a sigh of relief.
They lodged a written complaint with the park authorities. No Nandankanan official was available for comment.
