ROYAL OAK, Mich. — Zoo Boo returns this year for nine nights of family fun, elaborate costumes, spooky graveyards and of course sweet treats.

The annual celebration kicks off Oct. 16 and will run till the weekend of Halloween. The park will be open each weekend night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for guests to roam the attractions.

Zoo Boo features a festively decorated, half-mile trick-or-treat trail with 13 treat stations. Families can follow a trail filled with mysterious sounds and fog to a spooky graveyard that leads to the haunted Reptile House, where friendly vampires, witches and monsters will greet costume-clad children.

A hay maze, games, prizes, and Halloween themed arts and crafts will be held in the ghostly games tent. Families can also watch the live mini-musical “Zoo Boo Revue,” at the main picnic grove.

The park’s Wild Adventure Ride is transforming into Dracula’s Haunted Castle where riders are taken through spooky secret passageways

New to the festivities is the Amphibian fun house where children can play Amphibian “fun factor,” a game that will put their bravery to the test.

Opening night will also mark the debut of the zoo’s 126-seat Wild Adventure 3-D/4-D Theater at the Ford Education Center featuring “Wild World Africa.”

Tickets for Zoo Boo can be purchased in advance at Booth One in the front of the Detroit Zoo or online at www.detroitzoo.org. Tickets prices are $6 a person ages 2 and up.
