Zoos and Aquariums Need Your Help!

I was at the Saint Louis Zoo today, it was a nice wonderful day here in Saint Louis. Forest Park was quite busy and so was the zoo which is located in the southwest corner of the park. As I walked by people in the zoo today buying from the food stands and those who have brought their own food for picnics, I couldn’t help but think about how much the zoos need our help.

While the Saint Louis Zoo is free, many zoos require a fee to enter. I have paid up to $10.00 USD at some zoos. I have always done this without complaint because I know it goes to help feed and take care of the animals, which are the reason we all go to the zoo.

Before you complain about the cost to get in the zoo, the high cost of food and drinks, or the cost of items in the gift shops remember that the zoo uses that money to help in the breeding programs, food for the animals, medical expenses, upkeep, research, and brings you a lot of joy. Even if that joy is the smile on a child’s face as they pet their first goat in the petting zoo.

I am working on listing the websites of zoos here on World Zoo Today , most of these  websites have means in which you can donate to your favorite zoo. Please use them. I donate my time as often as I can to the zoos.

Many animal species are endangered in the wild, some have already went extinct, much of this is due to man. Zoos have a breeding program which they use in an attempt to save species, this program does not happen if they don’t have the money. If you don’t have the money to donate, you can also volunteer your time at most zoos.
